My journey comes to an end and an update on some Acquire Art artists

"She Still Flies Too Close To The Sun" by Patton Hunter

Buenos Aires is wonderful. It is a city of art, music, dance (not just tango), crafts, food and fun. There are many sites, smells and sounds to engage you as you walk the not so even streets peering in pastry shops located on almost every corner. There are fruit stands and flower stands sprinkled between restaurants, boutiques and homes. It is a such a large city we have barely touched the surface of all there is to see in the few days we have been here. We have toured La Boca (and had our staged photo taken with the handsome and charming tango dancer), we met an artist in La Boca that has spent the last 30 years making the largest variety of art I think I have ever seen. He says he has much more in him. We spent over an hour touring his home and studio. He was fascinating as was his art. We moved on to San Telmo to wander the wet streets and tried to stay dry and warm by spending some time with hot chocolate and sweets in a corner store. There are beautiful antiques in San Telmo. Our medical student guides took the day to make sure we enjoyed these two lively sections of Buenos Aires. Once again they did a great job of keeping us busy and interested. Today we went to Colonia, Uruguay. A beautiful small city an hour hydrofoil ride across the La Plata river from Buenos Aires. Another cool, breezy day but we enjoyed the Portuguese flavor of the city and the charming buildings and parks. We watched sail boats head out into the winds on very brown water. A strange sight for a South Florida blue water person. After a full day in Uruguay we headed back to the guest house for a home cooked meal typical of the Argentine farm country. A lentil stew and home made bread accompanied a nice Argentinean malbec wine. Our fellow guests from Brazil and our local hosts made for an entertaining and lively discussion about race and politics in the three countries. Once again I am reminded of our similarities rather than our differences. Tomorrow we head back home and I know we are both ready. These past three weeks have been some of the most memorable of my life. I hope there are some positives that come from my time here. I plan to follow up with people in Florida and with the medical clinic in La Rioja on joint projects that might benefit both. I hope more lives can be changed along the way. I'll keep you posted. Ciao!

Patton Hunter

Patton just returned Mexico, and is on fire with ideas. There is a greater emphasis Mexico on texturing with collage, fiber, molding elements, etc. and she is developing some works using these techniques, including this latest painting titled "She Still Flies Too Close to the Sun".  It's a personal statement about a little girl (in the doorway) whose parents expected her to be an angel. Shes tries, but high spirits and a sense of adventure sometimes lead to being scorched. Isn't that the story for most of us?

Susan Hess

Susan is currently working in watermedia, acrylic and watercolor on canvas and paper. She has been experimenting with an encaustic technique using acrylic mediums and is continuing using collage in her work. As always she still loves her watercolor on Yupo and will continues her tropical series.

Victoria Lynn Pierce

Victoria who lives in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico currently has a one woman show in Pozos, Mexico. Below is a short Video of her one  woman show and the party that followed.
